Kwaio is the name of the tribe and language around Atoifi which means "kill you". Kwaio people are known for tribal fightings, retaliations, land disputes and killings. But kwaio people are in reality the nicest people, you just have to be careful and respect their culture!
The kwaio culture is still alive. While the coast is mostly inhabited by christians the mountains is a place where you find devil worship and heathenism. People up there still live naked and have their own custums and laws. The devil has to be appeased by sacrifices. Evil spirit have a grip of the people and many live in a system of bondage and fear. When a woman comes down to the hospital to deliver a baby, she has the sacrifice a pig when she is coming up to the mountain again! Woman have to leave home during their period in a small house away from home and if they defile the home they will destroy it by fire and have to build a new home!

Wow, that is crazy. So sad to see how the devil is playing with them. And so many people smoking!
You are right. There is more to the story tough! You wouldn't believe what I experienced there: I met that man (hint: open the pdf in this post, go to pages 200 and following) I'll tell you the story later!
